Eight people were injured after a cable car crashed in the French ski resort of Val Thorens on Tuesday, writes CNN. 

The cable car was carrying construction workers who were about to climb the Cime Caron mountain. It was reported that there were bad weather conditions when the cable car ”collided with the arrival station.”. 

The emergency services sent more than 120 rescue workers to the scene.

The incident seriously injured two people and six others suffered less serious injuries. 

”"The cable car was in construction mode to transport workers due to the high-altitude project. This operating mode, which is partially manual, is very different from the complete automation used during the season to transport skiers," the ski destination wrote in a statement.
