The oneworld alliance's member airlines have appointed International Airlines Group (IAG) CEO Luis Gallego as the new chairman of the alliance's board.
Gallego will take office on September 1, 2026, succeeding American Airlines CEO Robert Isom, whose three-year term is expiring.
“It is an honour to take on the role of Chairman of the oneworld Board. The alliance is making important progress in areas such as loyalty programmes, innovation and sustainability, and I look forward to continuing to develop the collaboration for the benefit of both member airlines and customers,” says Luis Gallego.
Robert Isom has led the board since 2023 and has been responsible, among other things, for the work of integrating new member airlines and further developing the alliance's partnerships.
“We are grateful that Luis is taking on this role at a time when the alliance continues to evolve and strengthen its global position. His strategic experience will be valuable to oneworld’s continued development,” says Robert Isom.
oneworld CEO Ole Orver also thanks Isom for his efforts over the past three years and highlights his role in strengthening cooperation between member companies.
oneworld currently comprises 15 member airlines, including American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways and Alaska Airlines.
