During December and January, 11,000 trains were cancelled in Sweden, of which 1,900 were operated by SJ. Now, SJ's CEO and other train companies are being summoned to the Riksdag's transport committee to explain themselves and report on the measures being taken.

The Green Party's member of the committee, Linus Lakso, also wanted Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson (KD) to come to the Riksdag, but this was rejected by the other Tidö parties.

The train companies are pointing to a harsh winter with many problems on the vehicle side. SJ is expecting cancelled trains and reduced traffic well into the spring.

Lakso believes that the government must take the initiative for a crisis commission for the railways.

”"We have a situation where the trains in Ukraine, which are literally being bombed and shelled, have higher punctuality than the seriously neglected Swedish railways," he writes in a comment.
