Air Canada at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with an inauguration ceremony for the first flights to Toronto and Montreal. The ceremony was attended by HE Jason LaTorre, Canadian Ambassador to Sweden, Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of Swedavia, and MD, International Sales, Mr. Rocky Lo, Air Canada. With two direct routes to Toronto and Montreal five times a week, Air Canada will be an important addition to Stockholm Arlanda and connect the Swedish capital with Canada as well as the North American market.
Air Canada, the largest airline in the domestic and international market to and from Canada, has established itself at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with two direct routes, to Toronto and Montreal respectively. Air Canada's establishment is of great importance, not only for those who want to visit family and friends or explore new places, but also for the thousands of Swedish companies operating in Canada and North America. As it is one of Sweden's most important markets for trade and export, increased accessibility and cargo capacity are vital for time-sensitive goods in technology and pharmaceuticals to be delivered in a shorter time. Air Canada is one of the founders of Star Alliance and their extensive network of routes helps to facilitate both trade and tourism.
– I am very pleased to welcome Air Canada to Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Air Canada's establishment at Stockholm Arlanda demonstrates a great understanding of Stockholm's central role as an important hub in the region, says Jonas Abrahamsson, President and CEO of Swedavia. The investment Air Canada is making strengthens Swedish accessibility and further improves our destination offering, both for those traveling on business or to visit friends and family. The relationship between Canada and Sweden goes back a long way, and we have a mutual interest in ensuring that accessibility between the countries is as good as possible, he says.
- The new direct routes bring Canada and Sweden closer together and will help further deepen our growing and dynamic bilateral relationship. The new routes will also strengthen the roles of Stockholm, Montreal and Toronto as important regional hubs. Bienvenue Air Canada!, says HE Jason LaTorre, Canadian Ambassador to Sweden
- “The launch of these new Stockholm – Toronto and Stockholm – Montreal routes marks a new chapter in the relationship between Canada and Sweden. By connecting these two vibrant cities with direct flights, we are not only making travel more convenient, but also fostering stronger economic, cultural and social ties between our nations,” said Rocky Lo, Managing Director International Sales at Air Canada. “We continue our strategy of expanding our international route offering from our global hubs in Toronto and Montreal, and we are very pleased to further strengthen Air Canada’s long-standing presence in Northern Europe with the launch of direct flights to Stockholm,” he said.
Starting June 13, 2024, Air Canada will operate the Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Toronto (YYZ) route twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. The Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Montreal (YUL) route will operate three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting June 15.
