The airline Norwegian is now warning that the flight route between Stockholm and Skellefteå may be forced to close due to the aviation tax.

Norwegian's flight between Stockholm and Skellefteå is living dangerously. The company's communications manager Charlotte Holmberg Jakobsson says it is "a strained route", but that no decisions have been made. The airline claims that the flight tax is putting the route at risk.

– We now hope that the government will find incentives that will allow lines like this to remain in place, she tells Norran.

More flights from Stockholm are being discontinued
Robert Lindberg, the airport's CEO, says he has not heard anything about Norwegian leaving Skellefteå. SAS also operates the route.

– If one of the companies stops operating services to Skellefteå, it would be a very serious setback for the growth that is now taking place in the municipality, he tells the newspaper.

Norwegian has announced that the company is closing the direct route between Stockholm and Las Vegas in the USA, and pausing the route between Stockholm and San Francisco, writes Dagens Industri.
