| Copenhagen Airport welcomes one of the world's largest airlines. American Airlines has opened its new route with daily flights between Copenhagen and Philadelphia on the US East Coast. This was celebrated at gate C36 at Copenhagen Airport, where the first passengers were sent off. – We are proud and very pleased that American Airlines has chosen Copenhagen as its new destination. It is worth celebrating and it cements our strong position as Northern Europe's largest airport. I expect we will see even more American tourists, which will have a significant impact on hotels and tourism in the capital region and the rest of Denmark, says Peter Krogsgaard, Commercial Director at Copenhagen Airport. The new direct route between Copenhagen and Philadelphia means even better opportunities to visit one of the USA's oldest cities. Philadelphia, the largest city in the state of Pennsylvania, offers a wealth of culture and history. The city is known as the birthplace of America – as it was here that the American Constitution was drafted and where the US Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. ”We are delighted to be expanding our international presence with a new route to Denmark, marking American Airlines' return to Scandinavia after several years' absence. Our new route from Copenhagen to Philadelphia represents an important next step in the continued expansion of our network, and we look forward to welcoming our Danish customers to the USA," said José A. Freig, Head of International Operations at American Airlines. Good connections to all of North America American Airlines is one of the world's largest airlines with a fleet of over 1400 aircraft, flying approximately 200 million passengers a year. The company, which is part of the oneworld alliance, also has one of the largest route networks in all of North America. – It is a large and important player now flying direct from Copenhagen. This will benefit many passengers. Philadelphia is a fantastic city, but it is also an important hub in the USA, and American Airlines has 88 routes connecting from Philadelphia to most of North America. This will give many travellers from Copenhagen even better opportunities to get around the USA and Canada, says Peter Krogsgaard. American Airlines operates the modern and energy-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route, which has seating for 285 passengers. There are daily departures throughout the summer until the beginning of October. With the new route to Philadelphia, there will be 13 direct routes from Copenhagen to the USA and Canada year-round, and from 17 June, another route will be added to the map when SAS begins flying between Copenhagen and Atlanta.
