The final sod has been laid, and in September it's time for the grand opening. Here is Beijing's new airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Flying in China is increasing rapidly, and to meet the needs, a new airport has been built in Beijing, Beijing Daxing International Airport. Now the enormous airport is complete, writes Allt om resors which refers to Bangkok Post. The airport is shaped like a starfish and has cost nearly 162 billion kronor.

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China

Even though the airport is officially completed, the inauguration will be delayed until September 30. This is when the People's Republic of China was founded 70 years ago, October 1, 1949. The inauguration will include a military parade through the city.

Will become the world's largest airport

In addition to the airport itself, a train station has also been built so that the airport can be reached by Beijing visitors and residents in about 20 minutes.

After the inauguration this autumn, the airport will continue to develop, and by 2025 the airport will be able to accommodate 72 million passengers. After that, the number of runways will be increased, including a military runway to be built on the site, and by 2040, plans are for 100 million travelers to be able to be at the airport. Beijing Daxing International Airport will then be the largest airport in the world, at least the largest airport with only one terminal. The building is also large in terms of surface area, more precisely as large as 100 football fields.
