The crisis-stricken American aircraft manufacturer Boeing plans to conduct test flights with the delayed 777X plane for the first time later this week, Reuters reports, citing two sources.

According to a source, the test flights will be carried out on Thursday or Friday at a commercial aircraft manufacturing base outside Seattle, USA.

Boeing has not confirmed the information about the test flights.

The twin-engine Boeing 777X is a long-haul aircraft that will be able to carry an average of just over 400 passengers. Boeing aims for the first units to be delivered next year.

Previously, Boeing's plan was for the aircraft model to begin deliveries in mid-2020.
