Between 100 and 200 employees at SAS Eurobonus partner Widerøe must be laid off due to the pilot strike at SAS, reports E24.

Ground staff at 14 of a total of 41 Norwegian airports where Widerøe Ground Handling is located will be affected by the layoffs, as it currently stands.

”"We issued a layoff notice even before the strike broke out, and have since held both central and local discussions," says Widerøe's head of information Catharina Solli to the newspaper.

The pilot strike broke out last Friday. In addition to affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers, the strike has also had other consequences. For example, the price of air travel in the Nordic region skyrocketed last Friday, and SAS SCompetitor Norwegian has added extra departures on Monday and Tuesday.

In addition to higher pay, SAS pilots are also demanding better conditions and scheduling.

SAS shares have lost around six percent since Friday and are trading at 1:30 p.m. for SEK 18.31.
