Croatia is the fifth most popular holiday destination among Europeans according to the latest travel report from the European Travel Commission, ETC. Here is a selection of the best that Croatia offers tourists.

1.Rovinj – the most beautiful in Europe

Idyllic Rovinj with its coast, medieval walls, old town, pine forests, small coves and cliffs lined with restaurants is the jewel of Istria. This year, it was also named Europe's most beautiful city with a beach by the travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

2.Dinner becomes a party

Croatia is a foodie’s mecca – a melting pot of influences from both East and West. From grilled delicacies in simple restaurants to fine dining in luxury restaurants in cities like Zagreb and Split, Croatia is a healthy Mediterranean diet that is the foundation of the flavorful Croatian cuisine, no matter how big your wallet is.

3.Wine for every palette

The ancient Greeks already cultivated wine on the Stari Grad plain on the island of Hvar. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. High-quality wines can be found throughout Croatia; the Pelješac peninsula outside Dubrovnik, the island of Korčula, Istria with its Malvazija grape and the wine kingdom of Slavonia with Croatia's best white wines.

4.Island hopping by sailboat

Take a direct flight to the port city of Split to discover the fantastic island world of the Adriatic Sea. Realize your dream of the big blue on a boat to islands beyond the tourist trails with your family or group of friends. If you lack charts and experience, simply rent a boat with a captain!

Between Zagreb and Zadar is Plitvice National Park, an oasis for those who enjoy hiking, mountains, mighty waterfalls, spectacular views, lush rainforest, flora and fauna that have been granted UNESCO status.

6.New and refreshed hotels

The pandemic has not slowed down new hotel construction and renovations. One hotel that has just opened is Grand Hotel Brioni Pula, a Radisson Collection Hotel. The resort hotel offers a dream vacation for active people on an exclusive cape outside the city of Pula.

7.Zadar – history in a nutshell

Listen to the music of the waves created by the unique sea organ in Zadar and be enchanted by the world's most beautiful sunset. With direct flights to Zadar, there is time to discover both the old charming city with its 3,000-year-old history and the unknown island world beyond.

8.Rivieras attract swimming

The northerners' favorite is the 60 km long Makarska Riviera with nice and child-friendly beaches. But south of Split there are more rivieras! The unknown Omis Riviera with small idylls like Medici, Stanici and Mimice. They have nice beaches and activities like rafting are just around the corner.

9.Vis – an outpost in the sea

Croatia boasts more than 1,000 islands, one of the most relaxing is the island of Vis. Here, cyberspace and stress are far away. Today, more and more people are discovering the island because of the filming of "Mamma Mia 2" and the proximity to the magical Blue Cave.

Vacation like Emperor Franz Joseph, Chekhov, Albert Einstein, Gustav Mahler, King Oscar II and today's Croatian elite. Choose Opatija, the city where the 19th century comes to life in architecture, Viennese cafes and style.
