Things are looking bleak for plans for a night train connection between Malmö and Basel.
Both chambers of the Swiss parliament have voted against the initiative.
The investment was planned to cost the state 10 million Swiss francs, which is equivalent to around 111 million SEK. The project is a collaboration between the German train company RDC and the Swiss SBB.
According to the public service company SRF, Parliament has now voted no to contribute to the project. The vote ended with 99 votes to abolish the subsidies, while 92 voted to keep them.
