The government will make a decision on Thursday to abolish all mandatory restrictions due to the corona pandemic, and a press conference will be held with the Prime Minister. Expressen learns this.

This means that all restrictions will be lifted on February 9. However, the general advice that exists will be maintained until further notice, with a special focus on the unvaccinated, Expressen reports. 

A press conference will be held on Thursday morning with Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren, and the Director General of the Public Health Agency of Sweden Karin Tegmark Wisell. 

The decision is being made, despite a very large spread of infection, because the situation within the healthcare system is considered stable, and that omicron is significantly milder than previous variants. In addition, vaccination coverage is now considered to have reached a sufficiently high level, Expressen writes. 

Neighboring countries Denmark and Norway have recently announced decisions to lift restrictions. Finland announced today that it plans to lift all restrictions on March 1st.
