Fewer international visitors are expected to visit Disneyland in the United States, the company writes in its latest report. The company does not give a reason, but the number of tourists to the country has plummeted since Donald Trump became president.
The number of visitors to the United States will decline by 6 percent in 2025, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. The biggest drop is in visitors from Canada, after Donald Trump threatened to make the country a US state and imposed high tariffs on the previously friendly neighbor.
Now Disney sees that this could be a problem for the company's theme parks. In its quarterly report released before Monday's stock market opening, the company warns that the number of visitors will decrease.
”We continue to monitor international visitor numbers to our domestic parks and adjust our strategy accordingly.”
The company's television segment lost 35 percent in profitability, after expensive launch campaigns for the films Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The company's report also beat analysts' expectations with adjusted earnings per share of $1.63, while analysts had expected $1.58 per share in profit.
The stock fell 6.7 percent on Monday.
