The first restriction-free Friday in many months was celebrated with drinking and partying at restaurants and clubs around the country.

But in Stockholm, among other places, the police still describe the night as "calm".

On September 29, the corona restrictions were lifted for restaurants, clubs and events. The need to get out and party without restrictions seems to have been great and police around the country are reporting a lot of people out in the cities and at nightclubs.

In Stockholm, the police summed up at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning to 50 people taken into custody due to intoxication, which can be compared to last weekend's 40. However, on the website, the police write that the night ended with "a positive result" and summarize the night as calm.

In Gothenburg, the police also report drunkenness during the party night and were forced to open more drunkenness cells, among other things.

”"We have had a lot of drunkenness, up to 20 people who have been taken into custody according to LOB," says police spokesman Christer Fuxborg.

”"There has been a lot to do. But if you look before the pandemic, on some payday weekends with good weather we also had a lot of drunkenness. Now we are probably back to a norm that we had before the pandemic."”

The police in the Central region, which includes Gävleborg, Uppsala and Västmanland counties, sums up the evening on its website as ”relatively calm” despite the lifted restrictions. This despite the fact that there were significantly more people out in the cities and at nightclubs than on previous holidays during the pandemic.

A total of 50 people were taken into custody due to intoxication during the night in the region.

”"Despite the large numbers, there have been no disturbances and the atmosphere has been mostly good," says Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesperson for the police in the Central region, in a statement on the website.
