The sun and summer made a comeback this weekend in Sweden. And it will continue for a couple more days.
– It will be the warmest in Götaland and Svealand. At the beginning of the week, the temperature can reach up to 30 degrees, the warmest in Svealand will probably be in the eastern parts, says meteorologist Per Holmberg at Foreca.
– This warmer air has only reached southern Norrland on Monday and it is still cool in northern Norrland. It is not until Tuesday that the heat will reach northern Norrland with temperatures of 20–25 degrees.
Even though it has rained a lot in recent weeks, SMHI is issuing a warning - about the risk of forest fires in Östergötland, Kalmar County and Skåne.
In addition, SMHI is warning of high temperatures in Halland until tomorrow, where the maximum temperature is expected to exceed 26 degrees. Malmö is forecast to reach 29 degrees today, while Gävle and Norrköping look set to reach around 27 degrees tomorrow.
For those who have taken a late summer vacation, it may be a dream. But as early as Wednesday, a new low pressure will move in.
– The heat remains in the eastern parts of Götaland and Svealand, but in the west it looks like colder air is coming in and probably also quite heavy thunderstorms on Wednesday. On Thursday it will also come in over Norrland.
Although it looks like there will be stormy weather throughout the country, it is especially in southern Svealand and Götaland that the risk of thunderstorms is greatest.
Don't despair about the wet weather that is coming our way, it could dry up by the weekend.
– Yes, I see trends that high pressure is growing back towards the end of the weekend, says Per Holmberg.
But no matter how much we try to defend ourselves, September and autumn are relentlessly on their way. In parts of northern Sweden, it has already arrived.
– Yes, it has actually become autumn in the Dalafjällen Mountains, actually all the way up to Treriksröset. Although it is only parts of that stretch, says Per Holmberg.
