From 12 July 2026, Ethiopian Airlines will open a new route between Addis Ababa and Mauritius, giving travellers from Europe and the Nordic countries new opportunities to reach the popular Indian Ocean island destination with only one stopover.
The new route makes it possible to combine a holiday in Mauritius with experiences in Ethiopia or other African destinations, thanks to Ethiopian Airlines' extensive network across the continent.
Ethiopian Airlines operates the Frankfurt–Addis Ababa route daily with an Airbus A350, offering smooth connections onwards to Mauritius. For travellers from Scandinavia and the rest of Europe, this means short transfer times via the airline's hub in Addis Ababa.
More opportunities for combined trips
With over 60 destinations in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines is today the continent's largest airline. The new Mauritius route opens up a wider range of combination trips where beach holidays can be combined with safari, nature experiences or city breaks.
Among the destinations that can easily be combined with Mauritius are, for example, the Serengeti in Tanzania, Namibia and Cape Town in South Africa.
For tour operators, the new route means increased opportunities to create tailor-made tours and packages where multiple destinations can be booked on the same ticket.
Daily connections via Addis Ababa
Ethiopian Airlines is a member of Star Alliance and offers connections from a large number of European cities. On board, both Economy Class and the award-winning Cloud Nine Business Class product are offered.
The new route strengthens Mauritius' accessibility from Europe while further consolidating Addis Ababa's role as one of Africa's most important air hubs.
