In the spring of 2024, the German water park Tropical Islands will make a significant expansion of its famous dome, which currently houses Europe's largest indoor water park. The expansion includes a new 2,300 square meter hotel complex with 150 hotel rooms, a restaurant and a wide range of activities.

Every year, thousands of bath-craving Swedes travel to the German water park Tropical Islands, located just outside Berlin and characterized by its dome-shaped building. Now the business is expanding and visitors will be able to experience a completely new and improved destination from this year.

Tropical Islands is Europe's largest indoor water park with 66,000 square meters. In the summer, visitors can also experience the outdoor pool and camp or stay overnight in the water park's cabins. For the first time since opening in 2004, the dome is now being expanded by 2,300 square meters to accommodate a new hotel and center called OHANA Lodges and OHANA Town, respectively. This will provide almost 500 extra beds for Tropical Islands, from 2,800 to 3,300 beds.

The expansion is part of Tropical Island's 20th anniversary celebration and the desire to accommodate the growing number of guests, which in 2023 amounted to approximately 635,000 overnight guests and a total of 1.2 million visitors.

”We are very excited to announce our latest initiative; the expansion of our iconic dome with OHANA Town and OHANA Lodges. This is in response to the growing demand we are seeing and will not only significantly increase our bed capacity, but also create a whole new destination and reason to visit with wonderful experiences for our guests,” says Thorsten Christopher Jung, CEO of Tropical Islands.

According to the press release.
