A freight train that derailed in Norrköping has led to a complete stop in train traffic.
– We have no power for train traffic on the southern main line, says Ulrika Karlsson at the Swedish Transport Administration's press service.
At 7 p.m., the Swedish Transport Administration announced that the error had been fixed and that traffic was rolling again, with significant delays.
There is a complete stop to train traffic past Norrköping after a freight train derailed in the yard and knocked out the power supply.
Repairmen have been on site since 6 p.m., but according to Ulrika Karlsson, 40 minutes later they had still not managed to locate the fault.
– There are quite a few trains affected by this, neither I nor the traffic controller know exactly how many. But it is extensive because it is on the southern main line, says Ulrika Karlsson.
The stop will lead to major delays in train traffic.
The routes affected are Stockholm–Katrineholm–Norrköping–Malmö, Linköping–Norrköping–Nyköping–Stockholm, Linköping–Sala and Östgötatrafiken's Norrköping–Tranås/Motala shuttle.
The trains that are now standing still on the track will be rerouted, according to Ulrika Karlsson.
Travelers are encouraged to contact their train company for information about a specific trip.
