Finnair continues to report strong performance in June 2026. The airline carried 1.19 million passengers, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same month last year. At the same time, the cabin factor, unit revenue and cargo operations improved, despite the fact that traffic to the Middle East remains suspended.
Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), increased by 5.1 percent compared to June 2025. The growth was mainly driven by the new route to Toronto, more European destinations and a minor capacity increase in Asia. Traffic to the Middle East has been suspended since February 28 due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.
Actual passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 7.9 percent and the load factor improved by 2.2 percentage points to 84.0 percent. Revenue per available seat kilometer (RASK) increased by 10.1 percent, which according to Finnair is mainly explained by higher occupancy and improved ticket revenue.
– Demand continued to develop positively during June, while limited capacity in the market due to the conflict in the Middle East contributed to the development, Finnair notes in its traffic report.
Strong development in Europe and North AmericaEurope continued to be Finnair's largest market with 882,800 passengers, an increase of 10 percent. The North Atlantic also developed strongly, with passenger numbers increasing by 20 percent to 64,500, while capacity grew by 10.9 percent thanks to the new Toronto route. Asian traffic increased by 7.9 percent to 137,100 passengers, while domestic traffic rose by 6.2 percent. Strong growth in freight
Finnair's cargo operations continued their positive development. Total cargo volume increased by 20.7 percent compared to June 2025 and revenue freight tonne-kilometers increased by 15.9 percent.
The greatest growth was noted in Europe, where freight volumes increased by 56.9 percent, followed by Asia (+18.3 percent) and North America (+18.1 percent).
Punctuality was affected by the weather
Punctuality deteriorated slightly during the month. In total, 74.8 percent of Finnair's flights arrived on time, compared to 77.8 percent in the same period last year. According to the company, traffic was negatively affected by severe weather conditions across Europe.
So far in 2026, Finnair has transported just over 6.1 million passengers, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the same period last year. The next traffic report will be published on August 7.
