Finnair has updated its traffic program for summer 2022. One reason is that the stoppage over Russian airspace affects traffic to Asia. From Helsinki, Finnair connects its customers to almost 70 European destinations, five North American destinations and eight Asian destinations – including the new destination Mumbai.
Some long-haul flights to Asia have been cancelled due to the closure of Russian airspace. Finnair is therefore adapting its European network to the reduced number of air passengers. In the event of flight changes, affected passengers will be contacted via email and text message. If passengers do not wish to use alternative flights or if rerouting is not possible, they will be able to change travel dates or request a refund.
“During the summer, we will increase the number of flights to over 300 per day. We will also continue to offer flights to our key destinations in Asia despite the longer routes caused by the closure of Russian airspace. We also have an excellent offer within Europe and to North America,” says Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair.
Finnair's Asian offering consists of daily connections to Bangkok, Delhi, Singapore, Tokyo. There will also be three flights a week to Seoul, two flights a week to Hong Kong and one flight a week to Shanghai. The new route to Mumbai, India, will have three flights a week.
On March 27, Finnair will open its new route to Dallas Forth Worth, with four flights a week and full connectivity to American Airlines' extensive network in the US. Another new route, Seattle, will open on June 1 with three flights a week. In addition, Finnair flies daily from Stockholm Arlanda to New York, JFK and to Los Angeles four times a week.
