Flixtrain is cancelling all its train services for at least a week.
Stones on the track throw a spanner in the works.
– We hope to be able to restore parts of the traffic next week. The whole thing is very unfortunate, writes Flixtrain.
FlixTrain is cancelling all its departures for at least a week, the tour operator tells Aftonbladet. The reason is a shortage of wagons caused by excess ballast, also known as crushed stone, on the West Main Line.
”Macadam has in turn caused wagon damage to windows and undercarriages. Damaged wagons have therefore been taken out of service, writes Kajsa Ekelund, press officer at Flixtrain.
Flixtrain appeals to the Swedish Transport Administration
The tour operator, who runs trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg, writes that it is The Swedish Transport Administration’s responsibility to sweep away gravel and stones that lie superfluously on the train tracks.
Flixtrain states that they have asked the authority to ”escalate rail maintenance” and that affected customers have been contacted.
”We hope to be able to restore parts of the traffic next week. The whole thing is very unfortunate.
