It is not appropriate for the Swedish Foreign Ministry to advise Swedes against traveling in Europe during Christmas and New Year. That was the message from Foreign Minister Ann Linde in Ekot's Saturday interview.
”"Every person must take great personal responsibility. It is not the travel itself that is the problem. It is whether you have new contacts, if you do not keep your distance, if you do not wash your hands and so on," said Ann Linde in the live interview on Sveriges Radio's P1.
Right now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs only advises against travel within the EU to Estonia, Latvia and Ireland. These are valid until December 16, when new recommendations will be issued. However, no restrictions on EU travel will be introduced, according to Ann Linde, who would have preferred to see all EU countries have the same advice.
”"Of course it would be much better if we had the same advice. But I still think you should think extra carefully if you decide to travel, is this really necessary?"”
