There was a record low for train traffic this summer.
Over 40 percent of long-distance trains were delayed, according to statistics from the Swedish Transport Administration, reports Ekot SR.
According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the reason for the delays is mainly a lot of track work and the unusually warm weather.
– It has been an extreme summer in many ways. We have had over 400 fires that have stopped rail traffic in one way or another and we have had upwards of 356 solar flares this summer, says Bengt Olsson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Administration to Ekot.
The highest proportion of delays was experienced by long-distance trains operating on the Stockholm-Gothenburg route.
Delay means that the train arrives more than five minutes after the scheduled time.
