Icelandair has signed a partnership agreement with Southwestern Airlines for 2025. The partnership will make Icelandair Southwest Airlines’ first airline partner, making it easy for customers to seamlessly connect the two carriers’ networks. At the same time, Icelandair continues to expand its network and will introduce a new direct route from Reykjavik to Nashville, Tennessee, in the summer of 2025.

“We are delighted to add Southwest to our growing portfolio of partnerships and are honored to become their first airline partner. This collaboration opens up many exciting travel options for our customers, and our extensive network in Europe becomes available to Southwest travelers. We look forward to working together to make our mutual passengers’ journeys both seamless and memorable,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair.

The partnership strengthens Icelandair's presence in the North American market, with Baltimore-Washington becoming the first connecting point between the two airlines. Icelandair's route network currently includes 34 destinations in Europe and 17 in North America.

“Icelandair will be our first partner, and we share a common focus on warm hospitality and offering travelers great value for money. This collaboration will enable Southwest to expand its global route network beyond the nearly 120 destinations we already serve in North America,” said Ryan Green, Executive Vice President of Southwest Airlines.

As part of this expansion, Icelandair is also launching a new direct route from Reykjavik to Nashville, Tennessee, starting on May 16, 2025. The new route will be operated four times a week until the end of October.

“We are very excited to offer Nashville as a new destination in our North American network. This route will open up new opportunities for travelers from the southeastern United States to discover Iceland and our many European destinations,” continues Bogi Nils Bogason.
