More than 3.3 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in July, making it the busiest month in the airport's 100-year history. On the busiest day, 119,000 passengers travelled through the airport. Spain and Greece topped the list of the most popular summer holiday and charter destinations, while several long-haul routes also experienced significant growth.

Copenhagen Airport has just completed its busiest month ever in the airport's history. In July, a total of 3,330,000 passengers travelled through the terminals, which is an increase of four per cent compared to July last year, which had previously held the record as the busiest travel month. ”We are very satisfied with the high level of travel activity in July. Many Danes prioritise family time during holidays when they can travel together. At the same time, many international guests are choosing Denmark as their destination. This development strengthens both aviation and tourism, and we can see how Copenhagen Airport contributes to the growth of the experience economy – both as an entry point to Denmark and as a departure point for travels around the world," says Peter Krogsgaard, Commercial Director at Copenhagen Airport. Sunday, 13 July, was the busiest day ever at Copenhagen Airport. On this day, 119,000 passengers travelled through the terminals, surpassing last year's record day, which saw 116,000 passengers. This makes it the most active day in the airport's history.

Sun holidays and package tours dominate Spain maintained its position as the preferred sun holiday destination for the fifth consecutive year in July. As usual, routes to the holiday classics Malaga, Mallorca and Barcelona were the most popular among this summer's holiday travellers. A total of 284,000 passengers flew to and from Spain in July. Besides Spain, charter traffic was particularly directed towards Greece, where the holiday islands Crete and Rhodes were again the most sought-after destinations. Routes to Italy, France and Turkey also had high activity and ranked among the most popular summer destinations. London was again the most popular city destination, with Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Paris also ranking highly on the list.
Long-distance routes with progressLong-haul routes also saw growth in July. At the top of the list was the USA with 157,000 passengers, which is an increase of 10 percent more travellers than the same month last year. This was followed by the United Arab Emirates with 42,000 passengers, which is 25 percent more than in the same period in 2024. The routes to New York, Dubai, and Doha were the most popular, followed by Nuuk, Toronto, and Bangkok, among others. ”Long-haul routes play an important role for both tourism and business. When we see growth on routes like New York and Dubai, it's a sign that Denmark is well-connected to the rest of the world, and that we have strong international accessibility. At the same time, it shows that we are an interesting destination for many foreign passengers who are happy to travel long distances to spend the summer in Denmark, and that is very positive,” says Peter Krogsgaard.
In total, 9.5 million passengers are expected to travel through Copenhagen Airport during the three summer months.
