KIRUNA LAPPLAND STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION IN THE FRENCH TRAVEL MARKET

iruna Lappland participated on May 21 in the French sales event Soirée Suède in Paris – a joint initiative to increase the visibility of Sweden in a strongly growing French travel market. Together with Camp Ripan, Lapland Resorts and other Swedish players in the tourism industry, Kiruna presented unique travel experiences to a carefully selected network of French tour operators. The event was arranged at the Swedish club, Cercle Suédois, in central Paris and was aimed at tour operators with a focus on the leisure segment. During a joint "after work" workshop, short presentations were alternated with pre-booked one-to-one meetings and informal mingling in a Scandinavian-inspired environment. In total, around 25 French tour operators participated, focusing on, among other things, group travel for young people, tailor-made trips, train tourism, slow travel, and culture- and nature-based experiences – from budget to premium. – This event was a very effective way to build relationships on site with tour operators who are interested in selling northern Sweden. We experienced a great deal of interest in our offerings, especially winter experiences, authentic accommodations and nature-related activities. We have already seen that some contacts have led to continued dialogue and possible business opportunities. It strengthens our presence in a prioritized market and gives us valuable input for future investments, says Louise Johansson, Project Manager Market and Destination Development, Kiruna Lappland. In addition to Kiruna Lappland, Camp Ripan and Lapland Resorts, Piteå Havsbad Group, Swedish Lapland Visitors Board, Skansen, Vrak – Museum of Wrecks, Vasamuseet, The Viking Museum and Visit Dalarna also participated.
