It's now even easier for ski enthusiasts in and around Jönköping to travel to the Alps this winter. Lion Alpin is launching charter flights for the first time directly from Jönköping Airport to the classic ski resorts of St Anton, Ischgl, and Obergurgl/Sölden.
Departure from Jönköping Airport to St. Gallen in Switzerland on Saturday 1st February at 13:25, where travellers, after arriving just over two hours later, will be transported onwards by bus to their respective ski resorts. After that, six wonderful days of skiing await in one of the most popular ski areas in the Alps. The return journey departs one week later, on 8th February, arriving in Jönköping at 13:35.
– We have many guests staying in the region who fly from Landvetter or Arlanda today, so it feels fantastic to now be able to offer an even smoother solution with direct flights from Jönköping's pleasant airport, and moreover to some of the absolute best ski resorts in the Alps, says Johan Edsler, Sales Manager at Lion Alpin.
Lion Alpin has over 40 years of experience in Alpine travel, offering a wide range of winter sports resorts and a variety of accommodation options. From comfortably equipped apartments near beginner slopes, to luxurious spa hotels or genuinely cosy guesthouses. Dedicated guides will meet you on arrival and are available around the clock to ensure travellers have a perfect ski holiday.
The ski charter organiser's investment in Jönköping Airport is the only and first in many years outside the major airports of Kastrup, Arlanda and Landvetter. For Jönköping Airport, the ski charter represents a completely new and long-awaited product.
– Our geographical location means we are surrounded by several ski clubs, smaller ski resorts, and many ski enthusiasts in our vicinity, who today have to travel relatively far to an airport that offers direct charters to the Alps. Now, you don't need to venture out and drive on icy winter roads to a distant airport, but can instead choose a much smoother alternative. It therefore feels incredibly exciting to welcome Lion Alpin and their customers to us this winter, says Henrik Älverdal, Commercial Manager Jönköping Airport.
For its flights, Lion Alpin is engaging the Swiss airline People’s Airline, which will fly an Embraer 170 with seating for 76 passengers. The aircraft has the capacity to carry a limited number of ski bags, and those wishing to hire equipment have the option to pre-book complete ski gear via Lion Alpin.
