Stromma continues to have strong booking pressure after the pandemic. Many foreign tourists are queuing up to experience Sweden and especially the Göta Canal. Attention in TV and film may have contributed to the interest.

The Göta Canal has always been a popular sightseeing tour for the foreign market. In the run-up to the season, this is particularly noticeable on the longer trips, 4-6 day trips, where the proportion of foreign guests is the largest. The pressure to travel along the Göta Canal is particularly high among German tourists.

– We have a good and qualitative product that attracts guests from all over the world. The Germans have always been a relatively large target group and now the German market has received an extra injection. This has been done with the help of a documentary film about the Göta Canal. It was first broadcast a couple of years ago and has now been rerun. It really charms the Germans, says Peter Henricson, Sweden manager at Stromma, which owns the Göta Canal company.

What's new this year, however, is that Swedes are also booking longer trips.

– It's always nice when we see that tourists want to spend longer on our trips. The weak krona reinforces the desire to vacation here at home, says Peter Henricson.

According to the press release.
