Long queues for provisional passports at Landvetter

Remove

At Landvetter Airport, the queues are long for those who want to get a provisional passport – and some have to return home without getting a passport.

– We felt before the weekend that it was starting to get crowded here. We have had a lot on occasion before over the years – but never like we have now, says Mikael Holmgren, acting head of the border police.

During the corona pandemic, many people have missed renewing their passports – and now that travel is starting again, the queues are getting long as everyone wants a passport at the same time. For those who haven't had time to renew their real passport before it's time to travel, a provisional passport is an alternative – but at Landvetter Airport, the only place in Västra Götaland where you can get a provisional passport, the border police only have time to issue around 50 a day.
