New York, four additional cities in North America and the Icelandic capital Reykjavik are destinations offered by the Icelandic airline. On May 12, the first flight of the season will depart from Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport (GOT).
PLAY Airlines was established at Landvetter last summer and after a winter break, departures are now resumed for the season. This year, Gothenburg residents will be able to fly three times a week to New York, Boston, Toronto, Washington and Baltimore, via a stopover at Keflavik Airport in Iceland. PLAY flies to Stewart International Airport (SWF) in New York.

Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY launched its operations in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and began flying in the summer of 2021. Since then, the airline has established new routes across much of Europe and North America. In 2023, Play will fly to 37 destinations, of which 13 are new this year.
– We are one of the most reliable airlines on the market, our punctuality is far better than our competitors. We are now entering the peak season and look forward to safely transporting new passengers across the Atlantic, says Birgir Jonsson.
In the first quarter of 2023, 212,408 passengers flew with PLAY. The cabin factor* was 78.4 percent and the airline had a high punctuality, with 85.5 percent of flights landing on time.
