
German airline giant Lufthansa is canceling a total of 3,100 flights this summer due to a wave of the coronavirus causing staff shortages, Bloomberg reports.
The stock falls around 3 percent on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Lufthansa is canceling 2,200 flights, both domestic and international, during July and August, the company announced on Friday. An additional 900 departures have already been canceled.
A new wave of the coronavirus is taking a toll on Lufthansa's staffing. But they are far from alone in having problems in the European aviation market.

Among other airlines with major problems right now is British Airways, whose check-in staff at Heathrow have voted to go on strike.
