Beyond the city center: the capital offers a journey through 31 destinations within one city
Madrid is expanding its tourist offering with a campaign that transforms each neighborhood into an experience with its own, unique identity. You are missing streets. (You have missed streets) invites you to explore a vibrant, surprising and diverse city where culture, gastronomy and entertainment thrive even in its lesser-known corners. This investment in new routes makes Madrid a destination to enjoy all year round and on every visit. Through the initiative, Madrid encourages visitors to discover its neighborhoods as genuine tourist destinations. Beyond the traditional routes, the city opens up a multitude of experiences that reflect history, innovation, nature and local life. The campaign begins by highlighting three neighborhoods full of personality. The journey begins in Carabanchel, where visitors can wander among former factories transformed into contemporary art galleries, discover the cultural heritage linked to San Isidro or enjoy a tapas tour filled with traditional Madrid charm.
El Capricho offers a kind of natural space museum that houses perhaps the city's best-kept secret: a bunker from the Spanish Civil War, perfect for history buffs looking for authentic experiences. Casa de Campo, on the other hand, the city's largest green lung, offers a full day outdoors with bike trails, lakeside dining and visits to the zoo or amusement park - perfect for family-friendly tourism.
The first phase will add 19 more neighborhoods, such as Chueca, known for its vibrant cultural and nightlife scene; Madrid Río, perfect for exploring on an electric scooter with views of the Manzanares River; and Lavapiés, which offers culinary routes and street art around every corner. The result is a city that multiplies itself, offering 31 unique ways to experience Madrid by 2026. A city where each neighborhood offers experiences ranging from urban photography and literary walks to gourmet dining and local markets. Other iconic neighborhoods such as Retiro, La Latina, Usera and Gran Vía are also included in this ever-growing map.
