Estonian Uber rival Bolt continues to expand its taxi business in Sweden. Now it's Malmö and Lund's turn.

”"The Öresund region is an interesting market with many tech companies and also a large proportion of students. We feel that we fill a need in the market in Malmö and Lund as a long-term player with an understanding of local conditions. Timing is also an important factor for us," says Albil Grkovic, Sweden Manager and responsible for the launch in Skåne to Dagens Industri.

Bolt's taxi service is currently available in Gothenburg and Stockholm. And after the launch in Skåne, it may be possible to expand to additional Swedish cities.

”"We are a long-term player and focus a lot on the cities where we offer our services today. At the same time, we are always interested in new markets and are looking at Uppsala as a possible city to launch in, among other things. But nothing has been decided yet," says Grkovic.

Bolt was founded by Estonian Markus Villig in 2013 and has raised more than $200 million from investors such as Daimler and Chinese Uber challenger Didi Chuxing.
