The Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimates that there are approximately 20,000 Swedes living in the countries affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, i.e. in Iran, Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. However, the number is associated with great uncertainty.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimates that there are likely thousands of stranded Swedes as a result of closed airspace, primarily in the region but also in other places.
Swedes in Iran and Israel and in the rest of the region are urged to follow the developments closely and, if possible, to register on the Swedish list, download the UD Resklar app and activate push notifications, and keep in touch with relatives. Swedes whose travel is affected are urged to contact their tour operator/airline.
