Hundreds of Swedish tourists are still stranded as a result of the ongoing conflict between SAS and the striking pilots. A feverish effort is underway to try to get them home.
Many travelers at charter companies that collaborate with SAS have been hit hard. Most travelers have been able to travel home by now, however. But Apollo states that 250 Swedish travelers are still stranded.
”"We are working around the clock to get them home. It would be wonderful if the parties could come to an agreement today," says Sandra Miller Kinge, communications manager at Apollo, to TT.
At the charter company Ving, communications manager Claes Pellvik states that all of their passengers have been flown home at this point.
”"The situation is good and we no longer have any guests stranded. Now we just hope that the negotiations will be concluded during the day so that we and all the other organizers can get started again," he says.
According to SAS's own calculations, up to 30,000 passengers per day have been affected by the cancellation of the company's planned departures.
Negotiations between the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish pilot associations and SAS management have been ongoing since November last year, but the parties have not yet been able to reach an agreement.
