The Swedish travel agency Mixx Travel has suddenly gone bankrupt – and up to 1,300 charter tourists are at risk of being stranded. The operations were immediately stopped without the company notifying its travelers in Turkey and Greece other than on its website – but the information leaked out via social media.

Company owner Ercan Secilmis says to Sydsvenskan that there are currently up to 1,300 charter tourists from Sweden and other Nordic countries on travel destinations in mainly Turkey and Greece.

– We really fought until the very end to save the company. It's been hard, I've had it for 16 years, he tells the newspaper.

According to the owner, a promised – but failed – investment is a contributing factor to the bankruptcy. The company filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday and writes on its website: ”We regret the impact this may have on our customers, partners and employees.”
