Compensation claims against SJ from passengers affected by delays increased during the second quarter of 2018, reports SVT Nyheter.
During April–May, 105,000 cases were received, of which 52,500 were in June alone. This is 15,000 more than in June 2017. SJ's press service states that this is a natural consequence of the fact that there have been more disruptions during the period compared to the same time last year.
With track work, electrical faults and forest fires near the tracks, the rest of the summer is expected to bring even more disruption, and on Thursday several trains were cancelled due to the risk of sunstroke in the heat. The MTR train company also states that they have had an increase in compensation claims during the spring and summer, but has not provided any figures.
