With Midsummer just around the corner, MTRX is launching its summer trains from Stockholm down along the west coast. New for this year is Ängelholm, giving travellers an easier way to get from Stockholm and Gothenburg to a multitude of popular holiday destinations in Skåne and Halland. The trains will be running from Thursday 20 June this week until 18 August.
This summer, it will once again be easier for holidaymakers to get to some of Sweden's most popular summer destinations. For the sixth summer in a row, MTRX is extending its route from Stockholm to Gothenburg and adding Varberg, Falkenberg, Halmstad, Laholm, and Båstad. New this year is the final destination Ängelholm. This means that travellers can take a direct train from the capital to yet another gem in Skåne, as well as to nearby towns and beaches that many Swedes love to return to summer after summer.
– It feels good to be able to offer our travellers a comfortable and easy way to get to their holidays with direct trains from Stockholm. With Ängelholm, there is now another summery option and with that also the proximity to wonderful beaches on the Bjäre and Kulla peninsulas, says Filip Thunell, CEO of MTRX.
The fog begins the day before Midsummer and continues until 18th August. The journey time from the capital all the way to Ängelholm is around five and a half hours. This year's route is once again via Gothenburg, something that was not possible during 2023 due to track work. Tickets are available to book now and up until 18th August. MTRX offers daily departures in each direction with the exception of a few days.
- We know that many people appreciate a sustainable way to travel while also discovering some of the best that summer Sweden has to offer. This applies no matter which coast you live on, says Filip Thunell.
In the spring, it became clear that the Finnish VR was buying MTRX. This means that MTRX will change its name to VR, and the red trains will change to green in early autumn. During the summer, the MTRX trains will look the same as before.
