Crown and Champa Resorts (CCR) is expanding its presence in the luxury segment with its latest renovation, Veligandu Maldives Resort Island in North Ari Atoll, just 20 minutes by seaplane or 60 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport.

Established in 1984 as one of the pioneering resorts in the Maldives, Veligandu will welcome guests back to its 100 villas from November 2024 following its renovation. Veligandu is part of CCR's acclaimed luxury collection, where all islands are natural and natural beauty is combined with secluded luxury.

“Veligandu Maldives Resort Island will be an enchanting retreat for guests to immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty, while enjoying world-class hospitality with traditional Maldivian luxury,” said Ahmed Shaheen, Chief Commercial Leader.

Many of the staff have been at Veligandu for years, and although the resort has been closed for over a year for an extensive upgrade, they are already looking forward to welcoming guests back to the 100 villas. Of these, 47 are Ocean Pool Villas with part of the glass floor to the crystal clear water below.

ACTIVITIES

Just a 10-minute boat ride from the resort is Big Blue Point, the most popular spot for hammerhead sharks in the Maldives. North Ari Atoll has 18 dive sites to suit divers of all levels. Snorkeling and diving excursions also allow guests to encounter the diverse marine life of North Ari Atoll, including sea turtles, manta rays and eagle rays.

The hotel’s marine biologist is on hand to share a deeper understanding of the underwater world while contributing to the conservation of coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Veligandu features a paddle court and bicycles, and is the second resort in the Maldives to feature a pickleball court. The resort’s water sports and excursions centre offers guests the opportunity to jet ski, parasail, kayak and paddleboard, among many other activities.

For guests seeking a more relaxing experience, Veligandu also features a Himeyn Spa with an extensive spa program and a yoga pavilion.

Veligandu Maldives – a natural oasis! A home away from home, says Fathuhulla Ibrahim, General Manager, from the moment you arrive on this pristine island until you leave.

According to the press release.
