With almost 3,000 employees and guests on site, Nordic Choice Hotels held its own internal conference, popularly known as VK.
A total of six Swedish hotels were named the best in eight different categories. The collection concluded with a gala dinner and awards ceremony in the Globe Arena.
Every January, Nordic Choice Hotels organises its own winter conference, called VK, for close to 3,000 employees and partners. It all concluded with a grand gala dinner where artists such as Sabina Ddumba, Hkeem and Temur, Dr. Alban, Snap, and Per Gessle performed.
But for the employees, the awards ceremony was probably the highlight. The hotel group is accustomed to winning industry awards, but the internal competition is fierce and it's a great honour to win against its sister hotels.
Hat-trick of awards
Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg took home the award for ”Social Media Hotel of the Year”, while Quality Hotel Friends won the best hotel within the Quality Hotel chain for the third year in a row.
– It is a great honour to be nominated for Hotel of the Year. To then win the award for Nordic Quality Hotel of the Year amongst tough competition is fantastic proof of our efforts and wonderful attitude. I am incredibly proud and happy for my team. Their performance has been and is at a very high level.
– During the year, the hotel has closed parts of its operations, which has been demanding, but both employees and guests have enjoyed themselves more than ever during the year, says hotel director Björn Callin at Quality Hotel Friends.
Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport was named best hotel within the Clarion Hotel chain and Clarion Collection Hotel Victoria in Jönköping won the same award within its chain.
Nordic Hotels & Resorts is a collection of independent hotels, and with stiff competition, the Avalon Hotel in Gothenburg took home the award.
Another standalone hotel to receive an internal award was At Six, which since its opening in May 2017 has won a string of awards, including The International Hotel and Property Award for European hotels with more than 200 rooms. Alongside Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport, At Six was crowned ”New Hotel of the Year” within Nordic Choice Hotels.
