Norwegian flew 1.4 million passengers in November – 500,000 fewer than in October, according to the airline's new statistics. At the same time, the figure was 37 percent better than the same month last year.
Capacity in ASK, which measures how well-filled the planes are, rose by 48 percent compared to November 2021, while the cabin factor rose by 2.9 percentage points to 79.5 percent.
Norwegians Yield, revenue per passenger kilometer, increased by 10 percent compared to the same month last year.
The number of passengers amounted to 1.4 million, which was an increase of 37 percent compared to the corresponding month the previous year.
”"We are satisfied with the traffic figures and the earnings development. We are also pleased that 1.4 million passengers chose to travel with us last month," says CEO Geir Karlsen in a comment.
However, the passenger figure for both September and October was 1.9 million, which Karlsen explains by saying that November is considered low season.
”"But even though we are now in the low season, we see continued strong demand for air travel, especially to popular sun and beach destinations."”
During November, Norwegian had an average of 64 aircraft in operation and 99.7 percent of scheduled flights were operated. Punctuality, which measures the number of departures that depart within 15 minutes of the regular schedule, was 90.3 percent in November.
”"We are well equipped to make the necessary seasonal adjustments. We have adapted the route network for the winter low season and have secured approximately 15 percent of the estimated amount of fuel we need in 2023. Looking ahead, we see continued strong demand for air travel, especially to warmer latitudes," says Geir Karlsen.
Norwegian's competitor SAS will present its traffic figures for November on Wednesday.
