In May, Norwegian had 2,138,484 passengers while Widerøe had 333,492 passengers. In total, the group had 2,472,976 passengers on board. Norwegian's capacity increased by 19 percent compared to May last year, while the load factor was 82 percent, down two percentage points. The summer program has started and Norwegian had an average of 84 aircraft in operation in May. For Norwegian, the number of passengers increased by 12 percent compared to May 2023.
– I am pleased with the passenger figures for May. The average flight duration increased by seven percent. In May, approximately 650,000 passengers traveled to destinations in southern Europe. We have increased capacity across large parts of the route network for the season and look forward to welcoming even more passengers during the travel-intensive summer season, says Norwegian's CEO Geir Karlsen.
Capacity (ASK) was 3,466 million seat kilometers, an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period last year. Actual passenger traffic (RPK) was 2,843 seat kilometers, up 16 percent from May 2023. In May, 99.5 percent of the planned flights were operated. Punctuality, which measures the proportion of departures within 15 minutes of the regular schedule, was 86.1 percent, up 1.2 percentage points from May last year.
Widerøe with good numbers
Widerøe's results show an increase in almost all areas. The airline has basically the same capacity as in previous months and exactly the same capacity as in May last year, but has flown over 10 percent more passengers this year.

Compared to last year, Widerøe had an unchanged capacity (ASK) of 179 million seat kilometers in May. Actual passenger traffic (RPK) was 124 million seat kilometers, which corresponds to an increase of a full 10 percent compared to May last year. The cabin factor was 69.4 percent.
