Air traffic to and from Arlanda on the Gällivare and Arvidsjaur routes is back on track.
The first flight in several months took off on Sunday from the airport in Gällivare towards Stockholm, writes the Norrländska Socialdemokraten.
The routes have lacked traffic since Nextjet's bankruptcy in May.
The Swedish Transport Administration has contracted the airline Regional Jet to fly the routes until the end of the contract period, until October 2019. Municipal Councilor Jeanette Wäppling (V) assesses that both the tourism industry and the business community have suffered during the summer.
”"We see that aviation is extremely valuable and we hope that we can build trust again," she tells NSD.
The flights are operated by jets with seating for around 90 passengers. Regional Jet is 51 percent owned by the Estonian state and 49 percent by the Polish state airline LOT.
