A Norwegian flight to Gdansk had to make a stopover in Gothenburg on Sunday morning, writes GP.

The reason was a smell that resembled smoke.

– It becomes extra serious when there are 178 people on board, says Christer Persson, rescue leader at JRCC to GP.

The plane was flying from Gardermoen in Oslo en route to Gdansk in Poland. The cause was a fire alarm on the plane that later turned out to be a faulty smoke detector.

The fire department was on site.

– We were at the scene, but it was nothing dangerous. We basically turned around on the spot, says Lars Joselius of the rescue service.

It is unclear when the flight will resume.

A flight is on its way to pick up the passengers, according to Norwegian, writes Ellen Laurin, acting press manager at Swedavia.
