The SJ Group's operating profit for the third quarter of 2024 amounted to SEK 361 million (255), which is an increase compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Increased ticket revenue as well as new and existing traffic agreements contributed to the strong result.

The SJ Group improved its operating profit in the third quarter to SEK 361 million (255).

It was primarily revenue from commercial traffic that created the profit improvement, but new and existing traffic agreements also contributed to the improvement.

In total, travel during the quarter increased by 5 percent on SJ's trains, compared with the corresponding quarter last year.

-Good profitability is a prerequisite for managing our large vehicle investments. We currently have eight modernized X 2000s in service and the ninth train will be in place before the end of the year. SJ's investment program also includes putting a completely new regional train fleet and a new high-speed train fleet on the tracks in a few years. In 2024 alone, SJ will have invested almost one billion kronor in our existing and new train fleet, says SJ's President and CEO Monica Lingegård, CEO of SJ.

SJ does not receive any subsidies or government support to conduct its operations.

SJ AB's Customer Satisfaction Index increased compared to the previous quarter from 67 to 68. In the corresponding quarter last year, the Customer Satisfaction Index was 71.

Since the difficult winter of 2023/24, SJ AB's customers have become increasingly satisfied with their journeys. One of the most important conditions for the Customer Satisfaction Index to continue to improve is robust and reliable train traffic. During the spring and summer, SJ has worked on a 10-point program for better winter traffic. Several points in the program have already been met and the remaining points are well on their way to completion. Important parts of the program include a more winter-adapted timetable, increased workshop capacity and more vehicles in reserve. Read more about the 10-point program at sj.se.

SJ Norway remains Norway's most appreciated train operator among passengers in the third quarter. In particular, the employees on board and cleaning receive high marks from passengers. The measurements are carried out by the Norwegian Railway Directorate.

According to the press release.
