Qatar Airways becomes the first in the world to install Starlink on the Boeing 787-8, a variant of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Three aircraft are already equipped with the system. Following the groundbreaking implementation of Starlink on the Boeing 777, the airline has also completed the first-ever installation on the Airbus A350. Nearly 120 widebody aircraft are now Starlink-equipped, offering high-speed Wi-Fi on routes across six continents, including long- and ultra-long-haul flights.

Qatar Airways, which currently has the world's largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet, completed the equipment of its entire Airbus A350 fleet in a record eight months in December 2025. Three Dreamliners are already flying with the fastest Wi-Fi in the air, which means that Qatar Airways now has close to 120 Starlink-connected widebody aircraft. The installation on the Boeing 787-8, which operates flights from Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo, means that Nordic passengers will now have access to Starlink connectivity from their home airports.

In just 14 months, the airline has both initiated and completed the Starlink deployment on Boeing 777 or Airbus A350, to be followed by the Boeing 787 fleet – the fastest and most comprehensive deployment of Starlink for widebody aircraft to date. This strengthens Qatar Airways’ position as a global leader in Starlink-based connectivity for long- and ultra-long-haul flights, and also marks the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped A350 fleet.

Since its launch in October 2024, over 11 million passengers have enjoyed complimentary Wi-Fi from gate to gate. Today, over 58 percent of the airline’s widebody fleet offers connectivity of up to 500 Mbps, enabling uninterrupted streaming, video calling and real-time productivity on a growing number of routes worldwide.

Improved real-time operation with Starlink
Starlink transforms Qatar Airways' employee experience and real-time operations:

  • Flight and duty updates are delivered instantly to crew units, ensuring better coordination throughout the journey.
  • Improved real-time collaboration between cabin crew and ground teams in medical or service-related situations, enabling faster decision-making and reducing delays.
  • Engineers can monitor the in-flight entertainment system and prepare action plans even before landing, streamlining ground operations.

Qatar Airways continues to lead the industry as the operator of the world’s largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet and the first airline in the MENA region to offer this groundbreaking technology, further strengthening its position as the world’s best airline with an unparalleled passenger experience.
