The airline Qatar Airways is canceling flights to Mainland China starting today, February 3. According to the company, the decision is a consequence of entry restrictions imposed by some countries making it difficult for the company to staff its scheduled flights. 

In a press release, Qatar Airways writes that many of the company's staff have recently traveled to Mainland China, which means that these restrictions make it impossible for the company to schedule staff on certain routes. 

”"We have been placed in a challenging operational situation where the airline is unable to continue its global operations as a consequence of its restrictions on anyone who has visited China. If we had continued operations, the large number of employees who would have travelled to China would have been restricted to working on certain flights," said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, in a comment. 

”We will immediately resume our operations to China when government restrictions are lifted,” he continues.
