The fire on the Greek island of Crete is still not extinguished. Travel giants Ving and Apollo have a combined 70 Swedish guests staying at hotels nearby. 

Yesterday, those who traveled with Apollo were not allowed to stay in their hotel rooms. 

– Shortly after 1:00 a.m. they were able to go back to their rooms and sleep. Some chose to move hotels themselves, says Apollo's press manager Martina Krantz on Thursday morning. 

The travel company has approximately 50 new guests arriving at the hotel today. They will arrive as planned. 

"The hotel is not subject to evacuation. It is safe to stay there," she says.

Ving's communications manager Claes Pellvik says that the extinguishing work appears to be going in the right direction. 

– The signals I've received are that things are going in the right direction. The wind conditions are a little more favorable today, he says.

– There is nothing to indicate that we will need to move guests.

However, Krantz says that she has not heard any information that the fire is about to be extinguished.
