Ryanair has, for the first time in its 32-year history, recognized a union as a counterparty.
According to a statement from the Irish airline, it will begin negotiations on wages and holiday conditions with the British pilots' union Balpa.
”Given Ryanair’s past hostility to unions, today’s agreement is historic,” writes Brian Stutton, general secretary of Balpa.
According to Stutton, meetings with Ryanair have shown that they are genuinely interested in a constructive dialogue with trade unions.
