The airline SAS has found cracks in two of the 31 Boeing 737 NG aircraft that have been inspected at the request of the US Federal Aviation Administration, FAA. This is reported by the Ritzau news agency, according to Børsen.
It was at the end of September that the FAA required all Boeing 737 NG model aircraft to be examined, after severe cracks were discovered in the wing attachments on "a small number of planes.".
SAS has so far found cracks in two of the 31 planes inspected, the company's press officer Troels Karlskov told the news agency. The relevant parts on one plane will be replaced, while the other plane was already about to be taken out of service before the inspection.
A total of 58 SAS aircraft will be examined, but the inspections will not affect traffic, the press officer states.
Earlier on Thursday, Boeing confirmed that cracks have been found in a total of 36 of the 686 planes that have been examined.
NG should not be confused with the modernized problem model 737 Max, which is currently grounded from global air traffic after two accidents in a short period of time suspected to have been caused by a faulty autopilot system.
